how did you know your DC was ready for a toddler bed?
DS is 17 months old. He has been in an amazing sleep routine for about a year now, but things have gone a little nutty. I had surgery last week and although I am pretty much feeling back to normal, I cannot lift him. Some friends have helped me at naptime, but DS is just not having it. His crib came with a wooden toddler bed rail and I am wondering if we should attach it. He goes back to daycare at the end of the month and will be sleeping on a mat there.
WWYD? Thanks!

We converted her crib at about 18 months. She hated the crib. She used to end up in bed with me every night. I knew she was use to sleeping in a bed since she'd slept with me since 4 months & the toddler bed made it easier to get her in the middle of the night.

DS never climbed out of his crib but had he that would have been my first clue that we would have had to do something.
We have always had a full sized bed in his room. One day about a month ago DS took a nap in the full size bed on his own. At that point we ordered bed rails from one step ahead. They came about a week or so later. We tried putting him into the bed for the first night but he kept coming back into our room. We went through this for two nights and both nights he ended up back in the crib. The third night we were successful. This was starting on 7/31 that he slept through the night in the big boy bed.
Yesterday we ordered a twin sized bed for his room. I feel like the full size is really just to big for him. Hopefully we will be able to seamlessly transition him into the twin bed.
