how did you transition your child out of swaddling?

She falls alseep in her car seat and swing without being swaddled, but I wondered how to get her to sleep in her crib without being swaddled.

For me it was like ripping off a band-aid....just do it and forget about it.....

We stopped pretty much cold turkey and it took about a week for DS to get used to......

how old did you stop?

My pediatrician said when ever she no longer wants to be swaddled.

but how will I know? We swaddle her in the miracle blanket, so I don't think she can get her arms out.

One night I put them to bed without swaddling just to see how they would take it, and they loved it.

I stopped doing it after that.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I did it until DS was rolling over and after!!! I would roll up 2 towels and put them under the sheet saver just so he couldn't roll over and I could keep him swaddled longer.
I was terrified of unswaddling, I had forgetton it once when I slept at my parents house and it wasn't pretty.

I stopped after a few days of that, it needed to be done....Chat Icon

I had stopped when DS was very young as well probably 2 or 3 weeks. But had to start again when he was about 5 or 6 weeks. His arms kept waking him up when I would put him down.

Now at 6 months I keep saying I am going to try to stop swaddlign but I am not seeing why I should stop swaddling if he likes it.

I have been wondering the same thing. I tried one night about a week ago to have her sleep in the crib without being swaddled and she kept waking up because her arms kept going all over the place. Chat Icon
