How do i dry up my milk supply?
After 6.5 months I nursed DS for the last time yesterday morning. Feeling a bit sad but was the right time for both of us not to mention I've run into some health concerns I have to take care of.
How do I dry up? I know its been asked but having trouble with the search function on my blackberry.
I had been weaning and down to one nursing session per day so I didn't expect to feel this much pain!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: How do i dry up my milk supply?
I am doing the same thing right now. I have been limiting my time pumping. Yesterday I pumped twice and for only 2 minutes for relief. Today I pumped this am again for two minutes and I am wearing some ice packs right now. It has been a week of cutting back and I am producing less now. I am looking a bit smaller now but there is still some in there. I cant remember from last time exactly how it dries up. Sorry I am not much help for you...just sympathy!

Re: How do i dry up my milk supply?
Each day I nurse/pump less until I was down to 1x a day, then I stopped cold turkey. I was sore for a week, now 2 weeks later, I no longer need to wear a nursing pad.

Re: How do i dry up my milk supply?
I went from two pumping sessions to 0 in one day. I just used ice packs at night, and in the morning.. and I took Motrin when I started to feel uncomfortable... I dried up within a week and a half... it hurt for the first week... and Im back to normal now... I did the first day pump for 2 minutes on each side because I was so engorged it hurt.. and I let the milk come out in the shower to relieve some pressure too...
good luck! I know its a hard decision, and I stopped WAY before you did so good job!!!

Re: How do i dry up my milk supply?
I gradually did it. I was nursing in the morning, pumping 3 times at work, than nursing at night. I first cut the pumping down to 2 times than the following week 1 time than to nothing. Than I did the same for our nursing sessions. I think because I did this gradually I was sore only one day.
Good luck!!
