How do I find a nanny?
Since DD is a preemie we decided to hire a nanny for the first two months till she is 5 months old.
We live in Valley Stream. Any suggestion how we could go about finding a nanny?

I live in NJ so I'm not sure this will be the same but I found my nanny though an online community. Do you have anything like that near you?

Are you just looking for someone to help you out here and there or are you looking for someone full time, everyday? If it's just an occassional thing, maybe try a doula? You can always check on Craigs list.

We are members of SitterCity.com- we found a mother's helper on there. We tried to find one on Craigslist too-- I eventually became very wary of it. It seemed like I just kept getting people who wanted directions to my house, train schedules, etc. and then called back and said it was too far (when I had clearly stated what city I live in)-- Good luck in your search : )

I used nannylocators.com when I was interviewing nannies. My nanny was actually recommened from a family member. Dont forget to do background checks!!!!!
