How Do I Get A Tree Cut Down By My Town or LIPA?
I have a large oak tree in my backyard that I want to have removed. Since it runs into wires that go through my backyard, is there any way that I can have it removed by my town or LIPA? I have heard of people having this done at no cost to them. By the way, I live in Seaford, Town of Oyster Bay. If anyone has information on this, please let me know who to call. TIA.

I am going to call LIPA today. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this and could tell me if they had any success. TIA

a firend used lipa to take down a tree- there procedure is just totke the tree down below the wires - leave half a tree int he ground
but they will get rid of the tree entirely if you tell them you will give a good tip

the tree has to be impeding actual LIPA electric lines and not phone lines. Call them and they will send someone out to check it out.

Re: How Do I Get A Tree Cut Down By My Town or LIPA?
I called LIPA and they are going to send someone out to look at it. I told them that I want the whole thing down and they said that they will top it and my lanscaper/tree removal guy will have to finish the job. They also told me that they leave the wood behind and don't do any clean up. I am going to try the "nice tip" strategy to see if I can get them to take the whole thing. No matter what it will be less expensive than the $800 estimates I have been getting.

Seaford is actually Town of Hempstead, so you should call them.
