How do I get puke smell out of the carpet?

How do I get puke smell out of the carpet?
DS threw up on our carpet two days ago. I've tried scrubbing it and using the spot bot, what will get the smell out? Its pretty gross and in our den, where we spend pretty much all our time.

I soaked our rug with fantastik. It helped. Dh also detailed cars in his youth and said to wet it and lay a fabric softner on it. While it dries it will suck up the fabric softner. Worked on my couch when cream of mushroom soup came back at me.

I soaked our rug with fantastik. It helped. Dh also detailed cars in his youth and said to wet it and lay a fabric softner on it. While it dries it will suck up the fabric softner. Worked on my couch when cream of mushroom soup came back at me.
you mean like a dryer sheet?
