How do I keep DC from sleeping on tummy?

DD (4.5 mo) is rolling from her back to belly all the time now - even in her sleep, but she can't seem to roll from her belly to her back. Should I be worried and try to keep flipping her back? She has great head control but I'm still not sure. TIA!

If she is rolling on her own, I think it's ok. When I asked the ped, he said that if DS was putting himself in that position, that it's fine, he just didn't want me putting him down on his belly before he was ready. I waited, but many ladies on the board had belly sleepers from day 1. Just keep a close eye on her until you are comfy!

DS has been a belly sleeper since about 4 weeks old. That said, once your DC starts flipping theres not much you can do. She'll be fine. If she stays asleep when she rolls just let her be.

As long as they have the neck strength to lift their head, it should be fine. DD#2 rolled to her belly at 10 weeks and started to sleep 12 hours a night. We asked the ped, he said it was fine. So we left her.

I wouldn't worry about flipping DC back. I think if that is their comfortable position and they have head control then it's fine. Just make sure there's nothing unsafe in the crib, ie, excess blankets, stuffed animals, etc.

You really can't- unless you keep vigil by the crib all night! Chat Icon

It freaked me out a first too, but once they can roll there on their own, they can roll back or move their heads on their own if they need to, so they are fine.
