How do you book your Disney trip?
Is it better/possible to buy it as a package with airfare? Or should it be all separate? And do you think it's possible for 1 adult and 2 kids to go for around 2K all together?
I am usually a very skilled and enthusiastic travel planner but for some reason Disney leaves me feeling all farklempt!

I would book separate, b/c you can probably get a better deal on the plane, and if you book southwest you can always rebook (unless a TA will do that for you)
And I'd say probably to your other question, as long as you budget.

Personally, I book my own airfare separately when I go to Disney. I feel like I find better deals that way. It's a doable budget as long as you're flexible, does that include the airfare?

Unfortunately, it does.
When are you going? How old are the kids? How many nights? Totally depends, but probably doable if you get a good deal on air, go off peak, and stay at a value resort

Re: How do you book your Disney trip?
Kids are 8 and 6, going in may. Not sure for how long. How long do we need to see what we need to see and NEVER have to go back?
I don't drive so we need to stay in one of the resorts that is adjacent to Monorail.

You definitely will not be able to stay at a monorail resort for under $2k total with park tickets, food, airfare, etc. But the good news is, you can take the Disney buses to the parks. They leave from all Disney resorts. So you don't *have* to stay at a monorail resort. Even if you did, the monorail only goes to Epcot and the MK. Disney also provides free transportation from the airport to your resort.
Disney just released a discount today. If you go on the site, you can price it out under "special offers". You can compare all the different resorts.
I would say a week for the first time, but that may not be doable for $2k, but def. price it out on their site

Thank you!! I have been reading up on things and Port Orleanes Resort doesn't sound bad and I really like that you can take a ferry to Downtown Disney. So, no monorail needed! :)
Also, are there buses that go to Disney from the hotels that are NOT Disney owned? I am confused about that. So it

We have never stayed there, but it looks nice! allearsnet.com has a lot of pictures of each resort!
Some non Disney owned hotels (referred to as offsite hotels), offer transportation to the parks. Some are free, some have a fee. Some will just drop you at Epcot, some just near the MK at the Transportation and Ticket Center, it just depends. I think the Disney transportation is the most reliable and efficient when comparing on site and off site hotels.

Re: How do you book your Disney trip?
I just looked into hotels more and I think I will go with a value one. I was kind of weary of it thinking it will be the equivalent of some roadside Motel 8, with questionable characters staying in the next room, but it doesn't seem to be the case! It IS a Disney property still and they sounds like perfectly fine and family friendly places. Clean room, friendly staff and a pool, that's all I need!

Totally agree! We have stayed at deluxes and while it's nice, we have also stayed at the values several times, and it's been fine. We prefer Pop Century, no sharing of the buses, and I feel like it's more efficient. We stayed at All Star movies last April and didn't have a good experience with the buses or the air conditioning in the rooms. Disney ended up refunding me part of my stay. So I personally wouldn't stay there again!

How long is the bus ride to Disney from there, I wonder?

It's about 15 minutes to the Magic Kingdom, less for other parks. Not too bad. The lines get long though, so if you can't fit on a bus, you catch the next one. They run frequently, but can really fill up depending on where you are going. Disney buses are not my favorite AT ALL, nor the lack of etiquette from people on them, but if you pack your patience (which I lack a lot of the time lol), then you will be fine

Re: How do you book your Disney trip?
We stayed at the values and didn't rent a car and didn't have any problem with the buses! We did all star movies bec my kids were obsessed with toy story- it was a small room but we were barely there and it was something like 99 a night! I would def do it again!!
