How do you change bedtime?
Is it possible to change it when they're so young (10 wks) or did we blow it and miss our opportunity???
They are still up and usually are until 11 or 12 - they sleep all night, but mommy and daddy would like a little alone time before we go to sleep....any ideas?

I think if they sleep all night you should consider yourself lucky and be at peace with the universe.
Eventually they will show signs of wanting to sleep earlier. Or you can try a hundred things, have some really rough nights, and then feel like you finally figured it out when the bedtime would have changed naturally without any effort.
Unless you think your babies aren't getting enough sleep, I really wouldn't mess with a good thing!

Re: How do you change bedtime?
I waited until i felt the boys were eating 32ozs a day before their 7-8PM feeding before i started putting them down that early.
How much do your girls eat now at a feeding and how many feedings do you have? If they are drinking more then 32ozs by 7-8PM then put them down after that bottle.
My boys cried a bit in the beginning and we let them cry it out for 10 minutes or so. After a day or two it became routine.
And it is sooooooooooooo nice to have the extra hour or two at night to be with DH or get things done yourself.

Yes I think they are up to 32 oz., but they fuss until 10 - which then becomes their next feeding. I'll have to try the CIO method. We're trying really hard - last night they went down a little earlier - like 10:30 or so, so that's definitely an improvement. And one DD is STILL sleeping! Thanks everyone!

Re: How do you change bedtime?
around 11 wks Ryan started sleeping at 7 and not waking up for a 10:00 bottle and going all night to 3am then eventually til 5am...then 6/7am where we are today. He only ever ate 28oz max. He was not a napper which could be why he was ready for bed at 7....

Re: How do you change bedtime?
DS falls asleep around 7:30-8 and by that time he has eaten close to 40 oz
AND he still wakes up every 3 hours!!!!!!!
He has yet to sleep through the night or give me more than a 5 hour stretch
I am convinced that he will never sleep through the night and I will forever be woken up every 3 hours!!!

Re: How do you change bedtime?
When DD was your DC"s age she used to go down same time but it gets better!
I wouldn't mess with their bedtime, you have babies that sleep through the night and i wouldn't temp that!
It gets better, they will change their bedtimes on their own. 11 weeks, I think is wayy too early for CIO, they are still developing trust right now. Not going to them at the 1st whimper is something different, but i wouldn't let them scream for more than a couple minutes.
Once DD started to sit up, play more, the naps lessened and her bedtime creeped more and more early giving mommy and daddy more alone time.
She did that all on her own.
At 8 months old she goes to sleep 6:30-7:30 and sleeps a good 12-13 hours.
Just follow their cues, before you know it, they'll be down early and you can have a hot dinner and some needed mommy/daddy time

Re: How do you change bedtime?
I think 10 weeks is too young for CIO. Marron was going to bed around 11 at 10 weeks also and then sleeping until 8am or so. I considered myself very lucky. She just moved her bedtime earlier by herself -- showing signs of being tired earlier so we put her down earlier.

Re: How do you change bedtime?
I would try it gradually. Start the whole bedtime routine earlier. Liam was going to bed around 10pm the first few weeks, then I gradually moved it to 9pm, then 8pm but now it's more like 8:30pm, although we strive for 8pm. I try to start at 7pm with the last bottle, changing into pajamas which usually is some playtime too, then going into bedroom and laying on bed and snuggle time. By the time we go into the bedroom his eyes are starting to close.

Re: How do you change bedtime?
You shouldn't do CIO until they are at least 6 months.

We were going to try that tonight but I always find by the time we eat dinner, clean up, etc. we never have time. I like doing it in the morning b/c I know it gets done.
OK no CIO for them just yet then = thanks everyone! Actually since I posted this they've been falling asleep around 10 so that works for me for now. And who ever said that the more they do the more tired they will get at night it's so true and I think their bed time will just change on its own. Thanks!
