how do you cure diaper rash ?

Anyone have a miracle cure for me ?

Julia has the WORST rash. I've tried switching diapers, A&D, zinc ozide cream.


We conquer it & it comes back!
I have to think it's teething related.

I feel SOO bad for her, it hurts so bad.

I always loved Triple Paste. Usually cleared up my DD's rash within a day.

We haven't had a big problem with diaper rash- usually a little Balmex does the trick. BUT, my brother had terrible problems with his daighter and diaper rashes and they SWEAR by Target brand diaper cream. It's like a million% zinc oxide and cheap too, bc it's Target. They say it was the only thing that worked for her!!

I was using Triple Paste but my pediatrician recommended I switch to Desitin (original) because it has the highest concentration of Zinc Oxide. She said to slather it on and in between diaper changes, don't wipe it all off, just keep slathering on more and by 2 days it should be better. I tried that and also let him 'air out' by laying him on towels for as long as I could throughout the day and sure enough, he was better by the next morning.

I agree with the other ladies about Triple paste....I also used Caldesene powder (it's a pink bottle)....When DD would get bad, I'd use both, and although she looked like a pasty mess, the rash would go away in 24-48 hours completely!

The ped always told me to SLATHER her....to the point you think it's too much...and reapply at every diaper change (don't wipe off the excess, just put more over it).

I also would switch to moistened paper towels or soft washcloths instead of wipes, as for DD the wipes seemed to irritate it.

Here are our rules for diaper rash

NO wipes
Only wash cloth and water
Mild Baby Soap (no fragrance) with daily bath

For the cream:
We alternate between
Triple Paste or A&D with zinc
and
Lanolin Cream like Lanilosh or A&D with lanolin
Lanolin really helps to soothe when it tender, but the zinc heals like nothing else

During the healing I use only "natural" diapers, whatever brand you like. I find Huggies Pure and Natural to be the most comfy for DS since they don't droop as much.Those chemical inserts can irritate a rash.

As for Desitin, our ped doesn't advise it, it has many cheap industrial additives he says may do more harm.

Use a squeeze bottle and soft washcloth to clean them. Then apply plain maalox(yes the stuff you drink)

Then apply a zinc cream

Then apply aquaphor or a clear balm like A&D
