Re: How do you defrost frozen BM and how long does it take?

I take it out the night before I need it and put it in the fridge. Usually by late the next morning its defrosted to transfer into a bottle. I use the same bags.....I would recommend putting the bag in a little tupperware container though, I had one leak once all over the place in the fridge!!!
eta once defrosted its good for 24 hours

Re: How do you defrost frozen BM and how long does it take?

I used to take mine out and put into the fridge to defrost overnight but it was always still frozen in the morning. I started putting the bag into COLD water to turn the milk back to liquid first then I'd put it in the fridge or transfer it to warm water to use right away. (I can't remember where I read to do this... maybe on LLL's website???)

I typically put it in the fridge a day before I want to use it. (and a lot of the time it is is still partially frozen when I want to use it) Depending on where/when I need to use it, I heat it accordingly. But you can always defrost BM on demand if needed, right from the freezer. I usually will do it in a large cup of hot water.

like everyone else, i would take it out the night before or in a pinch defrost it in warm running tap water for a few minutes

just remember - you have to use it within 24 hours of being defrosted and it cannot be refrozen

I used to either put it in the fridge or I would put it in a bowl of warm water to defrost it when I wanted to use it.

Good idea. I was wondering what to do when I got back to work because I new it would still be frozen in the morning when I have to get the bottles together. Thanks!!!

this week was the first time I used the frozen milk. I took it out the afternoon before I needed it and it was fine in the morning.

We put ours in the refrigerator the night before and it's usually defrosted by late morning. Before DS is ready to feed, I put it in a tub of warm water. So far he hasn't complained!
