How do you know if you are pregnant after a D&C?

I just called the doctor today to see if what I was experiencing was my period. I had dark brown spotting for 3 days, but nothing else. I also had a lot of heavy cramping. Today it is right back to white CM. I don't have any other symptoms. The nurse that I spoke to said that definitely wasn't my period. She thought it was just old blood leftover from the D&C. It's been a little more than 5 weeks since my D&C, so it's the right timing for AF. Something doesn't seem right. I'm worried that I may be pregnant. We obviously weren't trying, but we weren't being that careful either. I thought we DTD after I ovulated, but I'm worried that maybe I didn't? I didn't take a pregnancy test and now I am scared to.

If you got pregnant after your D&C, but before your first period, how did you know you were pregnant? Did you have any signs besides not getting an actual period?

I'm so nervous!!!

POAS. I don't know how long it takes for the hormones to level out after a d&C but I would think that by 5 weeks your HCG would be back to 0. I could be totally wrong though.

I just want you to know that before my D&C, the ultra sound tech (who works for 4 different offices) said that she has had many women come in who get pregnant right after a D&C (before their first period) and have healthy pregnancies. I think one of the main reasons for waiting for a period is to get a better idea of how far along you are when pregnant.

The first time I had a m/c I found out that I was pg 5 weeks after the D&C. I POAS and there was a faint line. I went in for bloodwork and it came back that I was pg. I went in again 2 days later and it doubled. I had no other symptoms besides AF not showing. I originally POAS because I heard that AF would come if the HPT came back negative (0 Beta). I was just curious to see if the HPT would come back positive and if it didnt, I was expecting AF to show soon. I have a beautiful to show for it I hope that everything works out you!

Hi there! I had a D&C October 17th, DH and I were the same way, not trying but not careful..6 weeks after D&C I was going to have root canal so I POAS to be sure I wasnt preggo--negative test. Then about 7 weeks after the D&C I thought I should be getting AF so I picked up a Dollar Tree test and it was very positive. I tested like crazy and kept getting positives. Finally I called the Dr and went in for blood work and sonos and confirmed the pregnancy, I am now almost 9 weeks and cautiously optimistic! Good Luck!
