How do you know the difference between BH and regular contractions
So my BH contractions have always been uncomfortable..the past few days I've been having what seems like more...they are like mild period like cramps that I just need to stop what I'm doing for them to pass...what is the difference between that and mild regular contractions

Regular contractions will become regular and get progressively stronger.

Re: How do you know the difference between BH and regular contractions
I wish I knew too!
On Saturday night I was definitely having BH contractions...they were just a tightening of the stomach for thirty seconds or so.
Then last night I got severely nauseous, it would pass and then come back again. Then I started getting crampy contractions and I didn't know what to do. I kept going to the bathroom to check for blood or my water breaking.
Needless to say, i wasn't in labor because I am still here, but I stayed home from work today and still feel crampy and uncomfortable. My thighs are also hurting...which I read can be a sign of labor...
I have a dr. appointment tomorrow, but I think we are both close!

BH contractions don't hurt.
If you are feeling period like cramps, they might be "real" contractions, but that doesn't necessarily mean you are in labor unless they get worse and get regular like the ap said.

Re: How do you know the difference between BH and regular contractions
I've been having the same thing and talked to my DR. about it this AM.
She said BH will diminish or go away after changing position and thet are not regular (you cannot get a consisient timing between contractions or during the duration of the contractions).
Fun stuff, I asked her if getting strong BH was a sign that I may go early, and she said probably not I was getting excited this weekend too thinking maybe we'll go early

Re: How do you know the difference between BH and regular contractions
Thanks ladies. I have a Dr's appt on Wed, so hopefully I'll know more..we were at a wedding last night and EVERYONE that I saw was like you're so going early...I defintiely dropped already, bc I'm not feeling the pressure in my rib cage like I was, and I was hoping that the BH contractions were a sign I'll ask my Dr on Wed....I just want signs, ANYTHING

i agree, as labor progresses they become stronger and closer together, but not necessarily regular.
i gave birth without ever having had regular contractions.
my early labor felt no different from braxton hicks. i was probably in early labor the whole day at work, and i thought they were braxton hicks. didn't realize what was going on until active labor hit...

Re: How do you know the difference between BH and regular contractions
I honestly still have no idea. I spend three days in the hospital seeing my contractions on the monitor and feeling nothing. I do feel the BH tightening once in awhile but thats it.
