How do you know when it's time to take baby's temp?
DD hasn't had any trouble yet, but I'm curious - with infants, since they can't say "mommy I don't feel good", when do you know when it's time to break out the thermometer? Sometimes DD gets worked up and cranky so she cries unconsolably and even sweats... i've taken her temp during these bouts, which are occuring less frequently... every time she's been okay, but I want to make sure I don't overlook something.

I read somewhere recently that you should do the "kiss test" on their forehead first. If they are warm, then use your judgment if you think they might have a fever (they might not but only the thermometer can tell you that for sure). If they are cool, the chances are extremely low that they have a fever.
