As a housewarming gift, my bff gave me a large kosta boda "mine" bowl. I store all of it in there on my counter in the master bath.
ETA: I also edit my selection frequently so no germs can survive. i.e. mascara every 3 months, lipsticks every 6 months, etc. I generally give away a lot of the freebies to my mom that I won't use. I also give away most of the free bags to my cleaning lady.

I have a big, hard-case kaboodles type of a thing. It is a big make-up case with lots of compartments. I love it! I got it at Ulta -- holds up great and everything has it's own place.

Before Linens and Things closed I bought a compartment there. There is a spot for brushes and then I line up all my makeup inside the different compartments. I can't fit it all in there a so I also have a train case and I have some in there.

My lingerie chest has 4 large drawers for my lingerie and two skinny drawers at the top that I use for makeup and little hair things. Then the top of the chest is actually a lid that comes up and up there is where I put my everyday type makeup (powders, blushes, brushes, concealer, etc). I guess it's probably more for jewelry, but I don't put any jewelry there.
ETA: This is what I have
My mom keeps all of her makeup in the top drawer of her dresser. She uses little boxes to separate items.

I made a home-made vanity table out of 2 small nightstands. Each has 2 drawerrs. So one drawer is entirely lipstick. Another is all blush and lipliners. Another is eye makeup(liners and shadows). The last drawer is the stuff I use everyday (concealer, mascara, foundation) and my brushes.
Nailpolish and nail tools are in a box that is on the bottom shelf of the nightstands.

I work in the makeup industry so I have a ridiculous amount of makeup for my kit. I went to Office Max and bought two Rubbermaid "portable office", it has a top and bottom section. Bottom is a shallow bin where I store my bulky items like foundations, powders, blushes etc. and the top section has dividers where I store my eyeshadows, lipstick, pencils and such. Best $20 I spent on each.

Thanks everyone. I think I nee to inventory and then get either a good bag or another case. I wish I could use my vanity table- I love it- but I get up so early and DH would kick me out so he could get a few more minutes sleep.

I have a train case i got from Sephora.
I am a BE junkie so I have a ton of the eyeshadows and face m/u etc. I think I'm gonna make my own tray, like a drawer spice rack to stack the eyeshadows. Like this.

All my stuff is thrown into a small drawn in a floor cabinet in the bathroom. It's a mess and I can hardly find anything when I want to change up my look.  But I can't help it... I love makeup and I'm too lazy to organize it any sort of rational way.

A tool box for foundations, powders, etc
A pouch for lip glosses
A large bag for my everyday makeup
a small travel pouch for touch up makeup (goes in my handbag)
A plastic case for nail polishes
and a chisel roll for my brushes

LOL, he doesn't have a case against me considering he has a garage, shed and basement full of tools & equipment. my "tools" cost a lot less!

Here's my question.. how in the h*ll do you decide what to wear each day? I'd stare in there for 30 minutes trying to decide!! lol

I go through phases. I'll use certain colors for several weeks, then it's on to the next phase. I'll even change what foundation I'm using depending on how my skin is reacting to the weather. It also depends on where I'm going. I'll use more dramatic colors at night.
I try not to go into Sephora or Ulta because I can't help but buy and I need more makeup like I need a hole in my head.
