How do you "play" w/ a newborn?
When DS is awake i want to stimulate him and "play" w/ him. BUt what can we do? Any suggestions?

We dance, we sing, I'll read to her...I actually talk a lot to her when we're walking around the house. We have a lot of pictures on the fridge so I'm always telling her who the people are.
I bicycle her legs a lot on the play mat, more to help out with the gas...but she like to be on there.

I used to sing to her, talk to her ALOT  , and read books. I would also rotate her through everything...the infant rocker, the swing, the playmat.

i mostly talked and sang to her (poor child!). i would read to her and show her some of her toys. now that she's 10 weeks old, she's actually enjoying things now so she'll have a blast on the playmat or in her bouncer. in the beginning it is hard to entertain them.

i talk to him alot, i started with the playmat at maybe 2 weeks..he didnt do much with it until now and he's 5 weeks. he's starting to respond to the music and hit the animals hanging above him. i put him in his swing or vibrating bouncy seat too.
just singing, talking, to him is good for now..there's not much else they do other than sleep, eating and pooping.

Thanks for posting this question I was wondering the same thing. I have a play mat so I put them on that. I show them their dolls. I also put them in the bouncy chair and the swing to keep them entertained.

I would sing, read, shake toys in front of him, lay him in his crib with his mobile on, activity mat. He was a winter baby so we were in the house a lot!!!!!!!

Talking, Reading, singing (yes poor kid here too!!), dancing, cuddling, touching/massaging, etc...

all of the above suggestions are great - you can also give a gentle massage. DS loved what my DH referred to as "contact sports" .
