How do you spend quality time with your unborn baby?

I was just wondering what you do to spend time with your LOs....

Do you read him/her a book?..Listen to music? just talk to your belly?


I was wondering what I should be doing at this point...Can they hear us?

Hmmm .....

I will sometimes sing to the baby when I am driving, read a book or play music to the baby on my ipod.


eta - i read a lot of confilcing info on when the baby can hear us. I think at this point (26w) most likely can hear me now.

I believe the inner ear is fully formed by about 21-22 weeks...

As crazy as it sounds, we just include Crouton in our daily conversations... (Crouton has voiced his opinion numerous times and favors eating ice cream, drinking chocolate milk, and favors sleeping in late....... shocking! )

I like to lay on the couch after school and just relax with the little peanut. I put the headphones on my belly and play classical music or sometimes I read a story. When I am driving to work I usually am singing to the baby or talking to him/her.

i never thought about it really... i feel silly talking to my belly, but i include him in on coversations with my DH occasionally. i do sing out loud in the car, but that's something i've always done.

i rub my belly pretty often - does that count?

Its funny because I sometimes expect that the baby can hear my inner thoughts, like when I am thinking to myself. I know that is not the case, obviously. me and dh will talk to the baby sometimes say goodnight etc. Nothing crazy though

We've been reading to Charlie since about 22wks...I actually have DH read to him/her at night (b/c s/he hears my voice all day long).

I am constantly rubbing my belly and I talk to him/her throughout the day.

I have been playing music for him/her since about wk 22 as well and I definitely notice responses to certain types of music as well as certain artists. Can't wait to see how that translates once s/he's out of utero.

Ummm at 33 weeks, other rubbing his protruding body parts I don't really do anything.

DH will occaisionally kiss the belly. And when Peanut is sitting next to me I'll say to her "where's the baby". But that's the extent of speaking to my belly.

I know he hears us talking about him. I just feel weird talking specifically to him.

I played music for Andrew since he first started out in my belly (no earphones those because I heard it was bad so I was too paranoid to try it). He know is a huge lover of all types of music.

I talk outloud to my baby all the time and I am only about 5 weeks, after the whole nutrasweet ordeal that just happened, I must have apologized to the baby outloud, as I was trying not to cry.....about 5 times. I'm sure I looked crazy to anyone at work who saw me!

Is this something I am supposed to be doing I just go about my daily life and he comes with me, I didn't realize I was supposed to take special time to bond. Uh oh... I'm so screwed when this kid comes out!!

Really?

I spend quality time with my when i eat, sleep, fold laundry, watch tv, etc. That's about it. Oh and when my stomach growls constantly! See... i don't need to talk to my little one because my stomach is doing all the work for me!

Not sure how else to bond with my stomach, other than i touch my stomach every time he/she moves.

*ETA: i'd feel funny talking to my stomach or reading to my stomach. Yes they can hear you, but i figure i'll be reading the same stories over and over again after the kid comes out, that i don't want to bore myself just yet!

I love sitting in my glider listening to lullebyes right before I go to bed. It's my quiet time with the baby and I am hopefully getting the baby into a routine. Sometimes I'll read a story too.

DH talks to him every morning before he departs to work and I talk to him through out the day. I also placed the headphones on my belly and play classical music. I will read to him later on as I am not even sure he is able to hear at all (i'm 18 wks).

I do want want to know about headphones being unsafe. If anyone has this information please post.

Nothin yet. Once I know if it is a boy or girl , I will start calling him/her by her name and talking to him/her. I already read to my other 2 kids, so the baby will get to hear the stories as well.
