How do you stay positive an optimistic....( a little long)
yet be realistic and sane. Been ttc for 10 months (although not long in the ttc world). tried my 1st 50mg cycle of clomid and due for af any day (between monday-tuesday). No DOUBT she's coming b/c usual pre-af symptoms-irritable, bloated, and terribly sore boobs (sorry tmi ). I try to keep myself in check each month and havent posted regularly in awhile cuz I get myself so depressed at times and try to "block it out" (which doesn't seem to work). I was optimistic this month b/c I was trying 'something different" (hence clomid)-but now that i feel af any minute i feel completely frustrated and lost. I asked DH why he doesn't express his disappointement & he feels I don't need the extra strees of him telling me. I know he means well but I just feel so alone at times. Sorry for the pity party. It must be my pms :(

My answer is very simple. I repeat to myself that I will have my own children come hell or high water. While for some that may not be enough, it works for me.
With every step we take towards our goal of having children, we prefer to think of it as being that much closer than further away.

Sometimes it is hard, especially when I get a BFN. But with each new cycle I start all over again with new hopes and optimism. And like Leslie said, I know that I will have a baby someday, and that keeps me going. Everything that happens is another step forward to that goal. How did the clomid work for you? If you ovulated on a low dose, that is great!

That's exactly how I feel. I definately have my lows, but I KNOW that all this pain will be worth it in the end. It's not easy and I have cried...a LOT. But then you move on and focus on the next step. Sorry you're having a hard time

Re: How do you stay positive an optimistic....( a little long)
Thanks ladies Some months are definately better than others but I guess that's normal.
I was already ovulating on my own but OBGYN suggested to try clomid to increase the quality of my eggs.
I am preparing for the next 2 cycles of it then discuss IUI (our next step). Everything all of you ladies said is so true-sometimes you just need to hear it again Thanks you

Re: How do you stay positive an optimistic....( a little long)
Each month I would try not to get too wrapped up in the results. I would try to keep myself as busy as possible especially during the 2WW. When it was unsuccessful, I would give myself a day to mourn and then just start all over again. I kept reading different things and talking to my Dr. about different procedures and if I felt them necessary, I would have them done.
I have to admit, though, that I had just about given up. I was going to go through the frozen embies that I had from my September cycle and quit. I had, had enough of the emotional toll. You will know when you are done, but I guarantee you won't give up easily....none of us do.

ITA!
I allow myself to be upset and angry for a day or two when AF shows, but then once I start a new cycle of monitoring, I'm focused on that. I've also learned not to stress during the 2WW as hard as it is. This cycle I decided not to temp, analyze symptoms, etc....and I've felt less stressed and more in control of myself than in previous months.

Re: How do you stay positive an optimistic....( a little long)
What kept me going was that I wanted a baby..plain and simple. I would do what I had to do to get pg. There were many posts that I wrote after having had to pick myself up from the floor, but I did, and I moved on to the next cycle.
My DH was the same way..never said much, but was always there to pick me up or hold me when I sobbed, and also the support of the ladies on this board got me thru some really dark times.
