I put the infant seat inside the cart and put whatever food I was getting in the top part... I usually just would do a quick shopping if I had her by myself, never a full shopping.

Do you have a sling? that would be option 1.

Option 2 would be to take the baby to the store in the car seat and put the car seat in the main part of the cart - not the front as I dont think its safe - the only downside to this is that you wont be able to fill up your cart.

Option 3- order peapod or some other home delivery service.

Re: how do you take an infant food shopping?

this was my fear. I didn't like DS so high although I felt safer with the bigger carts like the ones at Target, BRU or BBB. I used to take the big stroller when he was an infant and put some stuff under it. The big shopping I did with DH. Either I would go or DH and someone would stay with Mason or someone walked with the stroller and someone the cart.
As he got a little older I felt ok with the carseat in the cart.
You can also bring the baby bjorn and wheel the cart if you feel more comfy with that? I tried that and it was ok. Just hated leaning down to get stuff. LOL

Same here.

I never put DS in the top part with the car seat UNLESS DH was with me, so he pushes and never takes his hands off.

ETA: If I have no other choice I put DS in the baby bjorn and go full food shopping.

I put the boys in the double snap-n-go. I grab a basket and throw as much as I can in there and also put more stuff in the storage bin underneath the stroller. A few times, I've grabbed 2 baskets. I only dropped a dozen eggs....okay, twice. It's more do-able than you think.

My car seat seems to fit perfectly and snap into the Stop and Shop cart.
Doesn't fit that well in other carts at other stores but we have no issue with the stop and shop cart.
it actually snaps in place snugly.
We never had a problem with that.

My concern has always been that she is going to have a meltdown in the store.
She's famous for those.

I always put the carrier on the seat part if it didnt wobble too much. If it did I would put the carrier in the cart. If I was going for something quick, I'd use the snap and go. i always found the basket to be quite roomy and was surprised how much stuff I could cram in there.

Either of two options:

Put DS's carseat into the big part of the cart, place items around carseat and in the small part of cart.

or

Use carseat in snap&go or stroller, carry a basket and do a smaller shopping trip.

I didn't.

I think I tried it once and wanted to shoot myself.

I ordered my groceries most of the time.

please be sure to ask at the customer service counter.... i read in a local magazine once (in NJ) that most Shoprites are 'mom' friendly and if you are shopping alone and need someone to push a cart for you - they will assist.

they also have opened closed registers for me there....seeing me and dave (or just me) with Em, crying or not.... they're a VERY family friendly store, so i always find myself wanting to do my 'major' shopping there.
