How do you teach your toddler to take SMALL bites???

I can't give Thomas (14 months) any type of food that he has to bite on his own (wagaon wheels, Gerber cheese puffs, crackers, cookies, cheese, etc.) He takes giant size bites and I'm terrified he'll choke. Is he too young to be given these foods whole? He even shoves like 5 puffs in his mouth at one time. I don't know what to do. I feel like I'll be breaking up his food forever.

I either brake up small pieces so we don; risk he chance of over stuffing our faces, and now I always say "baby bites" and he takes really small bites

Gosh we have so many of the same issues!

Noah does the same thing. he will take one small bite, then SHOVE the rest in and ends up almost choking.

Im just continuing with the small pieces and hoping he will get better with age.

I tried the small pieces but Lucas will shove a bunch of small pieces into his mouth until it's stuffed Fortunately he doesn't choke on it most times and the few times he has started coughing he grabs the food out of his mouth and hands it to me (gross).

I stopped trying to get him to eat my way and let him do his own thing...but again it's because he rarely chokes/gags/or coughs anything up. If that weren't the case I'd have to rethink this completely.

I have no advice because DD did this for a while, she eventually grew out of it but it was SO frustrating!!!

You cant really teach a baby/toddler how to chew and how much is ok to put in their mouths, its not easy!
