How far can I go with alterations on dress pants?

I'm down 2 sizes, about to go into a 3rd size and the new dress pants I bought only a few months ago aren't fitting right anymore. I'm wearing belts with them but they're bunching in the wrong places.

On some, I need them taken in in the thighs, butt, and waist. Others are just the waist so far.

How big of a difference do you think is too big? Should I just give them to charity and buy new stuff?

I am honestly not sure about the alterations, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss! That's awesome!Chat Icon

The alterations may cost more than buying new pants. Congrats on your weight loss.

I've always heard 2 sizes is the max you can go in before most clothes just lose their original shape/look.

You lost a ton of weight- treat yourself to something new! Chat Icon You deserve it!

Thanks ladies, I appreciate it. At least I have some old stuff in the size I'm going into that will fit again. I do have gift cards to some stores, so I guess I'll just have to clear my conscience and go do it. Chat Icon

I have the same problem these days. I would agree after 2 sizes they start to look awkward. I have been wearing lots of skirts and dresses and only recently started adding pants. I am done losing so hopefully my size will just stay the same no. Congrats on the weight loss!!!

Congrats to you too! I do find myself crawling around on the floor at work pretty often (I work with computers) so skirts and dresses aren't really possible for me. Chat Icon

alterations can get to be pretty pricey, if I were you I would treat myself to new pants to celebrate the weight loss. Chat Icon
