How far in advance did you book newborn shoot.

I am due June 7th. I just had my first sonogram, everything went well. I am still a little nervous about things until I enter the 2nd tri, but I heard that photographers book up real fast. Is it too soon to schedule a photo shoot? Also, what if I schedule the shoot and god forbid something happens and I MC. (I guess I would have to ask the photographer specifically...but in general, what were peoples policy?)

Also...If I am due June 7th, and most people say newborn pics need to be take in the first 2 weeks of liife....how do you KNOW when to book the shoot for? Do they expect you to set a date? or are they flexible around your due date?


What are your experiences? Who would you recommend and what were there policies?

I told Summer I was pregnant when Ryan had his 1-yr photos done - I think I was 6 wks along or so and hadn't told my mom yet
Most photographers will just note your due date and fit you in when you deliver. I'll be getting in touch with Summer as soon as I have the baby (or when I'm in labor)

I would call right away! They book up so fast. I was only about 3 months when I booked it and she was almost booked up by then.

Summerlyn told me to put her on the list of people to call as soon as we have the baby and she'll fit me in.

I booked with AvaJack I think right after 1st trimester ended. She wrote my due date down and told me to call ASAP after I have baby.

Book as far in advance as possible. I tried to book in April/May for November and Summerlyn was already booked.

i am not using a LIF photographer. i personally wouldn't book anything or buy anything this early--most people don't even tell others they're pregnant at this point. so much could still happen and i would be WAY too worried.

there are dozens of newborn photographers. unless you have your heart set on a specific one, i would wait. every photographer is not booked all the time. i booked mine last month and am due next month and she had plenty of avaiilability--and i love her photographs better than any i've ever seen from anywhere else!

Once you decide who you want to book and you feel comfortable with your pregnancy, book it. My deposit was only $50 and I feel confident that the photographer would have worked something out with me had something, God forbid, happened.

That being said, I booked in July I think for October.

i've used Lori (AvaJack) for all of my photos so far, so i knew i'd be going to her when i got PG with #2. i told her as soon as i told my parents she has my approximate due date and i'll let her know as soon as the baby is born.

i pretty much booked summerlyn the day i got my BFP and she was already booking for the month of my due date busy, busy woman

I started findingout info on different ones right after my BFP and booked it when i was around 10weeks!

ETA: I booked with forever fireflies no deposit needed you can email her she is very helpful!
