How hard is it to put a cell phone on vibrate

I was at a conference today and the speaker asked clearly as a courtesy if everyone can either turn off or put their cell phone on vibrate so as not to disturb the people around you. She mentioned it at least 2x during her introduction so even the late comers heard the message but I heard five different cell phones go off before we even broke for lunch! My cell phone almost never rings especially during the day but I always switch it to vibrate in these situations just in case someone does call.

well if you don't have hands i would imagine it would be very hard.

otherwise i can't think of an excuse... unless "people are morons" counts

Well I'm more important than everyone else so I always leave mine on anyway. I am IO to common courtesy.
