I went off the pill a good 8 months before we started trying. I wanted my body to adjust and regulate first.
We got pregnant the 2nd month of trying.

I went off bcp in the beginning of Sept, and got pregnant in the middle of January. So, about 4 months or so..but it was only really 3 cycles.

I went off the pill and allowed my body 3 months to regulate before trying. Then we got pregnant after 3 months of trying. So in total I was off BCP 6 months.

I told my doc I want to go off next year
she told me be to becareful
long term pill users tend to get prego right away in her experince!
and I will be on the pill for 12 years next year
so I am debating waiting a bit longer

I was on the pill for 6 years, I stopped taking them in July of 07 & got pregnant March 08.

I stopped the pill in Feb of 07. Didn't try really until Dec of 07, but didn't really try *not* to either if ya know what I mean 
So I guess I'm no help. I stopped Feb 07, tried Dec 07 and got pregnant immediately on that first try.
ETA: I was on the same pill non-stop for 14 straight years. So I figured to wait at least 6months to get my system back.
