How Long After your BFP did you start browsing baby things?

today was the first day i decided to peruse BBB and BRU because i was bored at work. i looked up some cribs/changing tables.

i already felt overwhelmed! i feel like there is soooooo much stuff out there and so many options for the same thing.

registering for a wedding seemed fun, this seems like it might be a nightmare. its probably because its too early (i'm 8w4d) and i'm just not that connected yet.

anyone else feel like that? when did you start looking at things?

I am 11 weeks and I have not started. I am still so nervous...I am trying to enjoy it, but its hard.
I have my Ultra Screen on Friday...as long as everything is ok, I may start after that.
I get the whole not connected thing..it still doesnt seem real!

Pretty early on....like you said, there are so many things to select, and I knew I wanted most things to be gender neutral.

I picked one thing at a time (carseat, then pnp, monitor,etc) and read the baby bargains book and this board.

I was at Barnes & Noble and happened upon the Baby Bargains book before I ever started looking at baby things online and I think that actually helped a LOT. I read through it in the store, then started browsing online (I started my amazon registry around 14 weeks because I was just too excited!). Then I went back to B&N and bought the book lol. I had to!!! It really did help a lot.

I didn't receive as much stuff that was on my registry as I thought I would. I did receive about 15 towels and wash cloths, somehow. And only one small set of receiving blankets (and zero regular blankets). I've since fixed this a little, but it was so strange! All my BTDT mom friends couldn't believe I barely got any blankets!

But anyway... it's really fun to look and read reviews and see what you like. Amazon is great for reading reviews too! Try to enjoy the process. You're way ahead of time, so there's no need to stress yet. If you were 30 weeks and first starting to think about buying something for the baby, maybe there'd be a reason to stress...

I was about 4 weeks along when I got my BFP, I remember going to BRU the following weekend and was totally overwhelmed. Now I'm almost 21 weeks and have to register; I'm still totally overwhelmed!!!

Yea opening up BRU and BBB web sites was probably the worst decision I ever made! I was so overwhelmed when I first looked and still am at 19 weeks

A few girls on here recommended the Baby Bargains book so I asked for it for Christmas so hopefully that will help ease my registering anxieties.

I wouldn't even look at things for the first 10 weeks, the only thing I did buy was "what to expect when expecting"

I'll admit I looked 2 days after finding out....but I've since stopped because I'm very paranoid and have been having a few minor issues so far so I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves yet. It's also really hard/depressing because we live in a very small apartment and since we have like 6 months to find a house, buy it, close, and move in, and we haven't been able to do that in the past year a half looking...well, it just doesn't seem likely and we just don't have the room for a lot of baby things, so as much as I might want all of it, I don't know if we can get it.

I only bought a few books in the beginning. I didnt start even looking at baby stuff till after 20 weeks.

i started browsing online, became completely overwhelmed and quickly x'ed the page. i figure the motivation to shop will come in time.

LOLOL Well I bought my first maternity shirt that same day and I've browsed websites looking at other baby things!

When I was pregnant with DD I didnt start looking at ANYTHING until after the 20w sono! I was too nervous! But I did read the Baby Bargains book around that time and it was so so helpful in making my registry.
Now I am only 5 weeks and I am looking at stuff...not so nervous I guess this time around!
