How long did it take DC to "adjust" to daycare/nanny/babysitter
This is DS's 2nd day with the babysitter and the 1st day did not go so well.
He was hysterical when I left, only napped twice for 45 minutes each (he usually sleeps 2 hrs per nap) and she said he cried most of the day. He didn't eat any of his solids and was crying when I came home. The babysitter looked completely worn out when I got home.
He was hysterical again when I left this morning.
He is 11 months old and I know he is also going through a bit of a mommy only stage bc lately he doesn't want DH either when we are both home.
How long did it take for your DC to adjust and get comfortable with new people/surroundings?
Also, the babysitter is only coming Wed & Fri, so I know this may make it harder. . .

Thanks, Maria. I think it's worse because I'm a few blocks away from my house at my brothers. I may have been better off going to work to distract myself.

Re: How long did it take DC to "adjust" to daycare/nanny/babysitter
My son was in full time care with his nanny starting at 4 months.... he cried the first day when I handed him over, but by days end he was okay. And by weeks end, there was no fussing when I left.
My son is 10 months now, and loves his nanny BUT does reach out for me when I hand him over now, because he is going through some classic seperation anxiety.
So, I think it might be the age, not the care giver and your son will adjust soon enough.
I often don't really say good bye when I leave, and jsut slip out... nanny takes him off to play and distract/engage him and it seems to help.
it will work out!

You know, I had to think back... but I spent the first week at home with both the baby and nanny...getting her acclimated to his routine. If your not back at work yet -maybe you can spend some time with the two of them, and she'll become more familiar to your son.
