How long did it take to settle into being a Mom?

DD is almost 3 weeks old, I am starting to feel a little more comfortable being a first time mom. I am exhausted but happy.
DH went back to work today so I am hoping that I will now have some time during the day to nap and also get things done, but I was wondering how long it really takes to get into a routine. I know at 3 weeks, there still is no real routine, but I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel....any feedback is appreciated....

DS was a tough baby- I'd say borderline colicky. He mdae it difficult for me to feel warm and cuddly with him for a hilw. Of course I loved him and I don't even believe I had PPD, it's just he frustrated me a lot of the time. And it actually got worse before it got better. He started crying less and sleeping more around 3months, and that's when the motherly pride/joy really kicked in. Now I like him more and more with each passing day. He's a real joy. Chat Icon

at 2 months when we diagnosed his milk allergy things got better and then even better at 3 months when he slept thru the night (ah the good old days). Now at 7 months he is an absolute joy and I know him inside and out so that makes it easier. However his routine has never been consistent due to illness, 2 teeth, and daycare. But I can say I'm settled into being a mom and I love every minute of it -mostly. 4am wakeups are still frustrating but I think you just get used to it.
