How long did you wait?

I will be getting married in 2 months and cannot wait to have my own family...question is how long to wait?

I've heard enjoy being married first, then have kids

and try for a Honeymoon baby.

What have most people done?

We tried since our wedding last October. We didn't get pregnant until September of this year

I don't have kids yet and I have been married almost a year and a half. I think a lot depends on age. Some couples who are together for a while, but get married in their 30's often opt to start TTC sooner because of potential problems.

A lot of couples I have talked to have said to enjoy your couple time together because you don't appreciate it until later.

When we start trying early next year I will be 31 1/2 and DH will be nearly 28.

We'll have been married almost 2 years.

we've been married 3.5 years, we started trying around our 3 year anniversary.

I voted for 5+ years! Not by choice! We were going to start sooner, and unfortunatley 2004 was a bad year for me health wise and drs. said, 'no, not yet". So, we did lose a year.
After my next TBAF cycle, we are back on the TTC train!

we waited 2 years after we have been married. There was so much we wanted to do as a couple together...such as travel.

We tried for a honeymoon baby and all those months inbetween. It's been a year and we're still trying

our first try we were married 7-8 months and we miscarried.

this PG, we started trying again at our 1 yr anniversary, and got it on our 2nd try, which means we were married 1 yr and 1 month.

It was nice having that alone time together to get used to each other since we did not live together and we are still getting used to each other

We're married almost 14 months and not ttc yet. We just moved into our home almost 4 months ago so we've been putting a lot of time into the home. We are both off Sundays and Mondays and use those days as "us" days. We're enjoying the house and our couple time. We'll probably start TTC in another year. We are planning a big trip for our 2 yr anniversary so we'll probably begin TTC around that time.

We waited one year, although I was wanting to try for a honeymoon baby. I got pregnant after 1 year, 3 months married, but we were sort of trying for some time.

I just went off the pill after our 1 year anniversary.

We just started trying and we were married a year in July.

We have wanted to start trying for a few years now, we waited to get married for finacial reasons. We started TTC about 10 weeks or so before the wedding, assuiming if it did happen it would be early enough and we wouldnt have to tell anyone.

Sorry we waited now, since that was over 11 months ago...

I was 32 when we got married. We moved a little fast (got married 16 months after meeting). We just celebrated one year and are now actively ttc.

Even though I am a little older, I really wanted us to have a year of marriage under our belts- we bought a house and went to Ireland, and I am happy we were able to do those things.

I know this may sound funny to say....but since i am all new to this I didn't realize it may take some to actually conceive.

Our honeymoon isn't for a few months after the wedding, and we have been living together for 2 years already.

So maybe after the wedding I will remove the patch and just let nature take its course.

Dh and I lived together for 4 years before we were married, I went off BCP the December after our October wedding. We actively started trying in May 2005, we got pg the end of june-ended in m/c in july, then pg again in August. We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary without champagne! So I guess you can say we waited about 8 months after marriage before TTC. Dh and I have wanted to start a family for a long time, just had to wait for what we felt was the right time.

We didn't want to wait too long since we already lived together for so long, financials, and our lives were already so molded together. We did want to wait a little bit since we wanted some time for ourselves as Mr & Mrs.

We waited until a year after we were married. We wanted that first year of marriage to just be about ourselves.

We got married in 9/03, started trying in 8/04 and still trying!

We "waited... NOT" until about three months BEFORE getting married. I always knew it wouldn't be easy.

We started about a few months before the wedding -- we are both older and on round two so we didn't feel the need to wait. Wish we had started even earlier!!!

2 years and 4 months after our wedding we started trying... and we're still trying- January will be our 3 year anniversary- we really wanted some time just for "us" as we didn't live together prior to getting married.

We tried on our Honeymoon but didnt get pregnant for another 13 months.
