How long does a washer machine last

My machine is having a problem with the spin cycle. Sometimes it spins, sometimes it doesn't. Regardless, most of the time my clothes are dripping wet after the cycle. My husband is not handy. Years back with another washer, we called a repairman and realized that for $100 more, we could have gotten a new washer so vowed to not do that again. My washer is six years old. Not sure if I should call someone in or buy a new one. Is there someone anyone can recommend? The last time we used a place, months later they were on news 12 charged with fraud. They left our machine with a horrible noise after they left. This is the replacement machine.
