How long does it take to get a passport these days?
is there still a huge issue with delays?

Should be quicker now, different centers will have diff. processing times but I renewed DH's passport recently and it took 6-8 weeks (forgot exactly). You'll get it alot quicker if you expedite it - 2-3 weeks is not uncommon.

We paid to expedite the day after thanksgiving last year b/c we were going away for New Years and we got them in 10 days

Did mine over here at a consulate and it took 3 weeks. That was with a delay, b/c I forgot to send a Self addressed stamped envelope.
My dad got his in 2 weeks and he did it in the US.

Mine took about 2 weeks back in April. I had asked the woman at the post office about expediting it and she had told me that at that time it wouldn't be neccessary and luckily she was right!

Just got ours this month, it took 2 weeks and about 2 days!
We are going away for a wedding and from what i heard most of the wedding guests had the same experience.
