Re: how long off bcp before ttc?
That's a personal decision.
Every person is different when it comes to TTC. Some people will get pregnant the first month off bcp, it will take months for others, and for some it will take years. You really never know.
You could go off as soon as possible and then use another form of protection while you get to know your cycles. If you're not ready to be pregnant yet, you'll definitely want to use another form of protection since you never know how quickly it might happen. Or, if you wouldn't mind getting pregnant right away, you could just come off the BCP and see what happens.

Re: how long off bcp before ttc?
I went off BCP's in May....my cycles are starting to get normal and this is our first cycle really TTC....my doctor recommended going off BCPs app. 3 months before TTC...however, if you get pregnant right away....I have several friends this happened to...and all is healthy!

YES - and i'm sorry that's the answer - but WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to think I cried at the drop of a hat before, now i cry at the THOUGHT of a drop of a hat..
I am truly surprised at the amount of 'hormonal stability' the birth control pill gave me.
I was on birth control for 10 years.
As some others have told you - you can come off it and start ovulating right away, or you can come off it and not ovulate for a year. it's different for everyone. Me? I ovulated within 2 months, but we're still not pregnant. A friend of mine - didn't ovulate for 6 months after coming off the pill...

I went off BC and was pregnant the next month. If you go off the pill, just remember and be prepared that anything can happen. For some people it may take a bit, and others, it may not. I was on BCP for over 10 years.

Re: how long off bcp before ttc?
We got pregnant my first cycle off the pill. We weren't "trying" because I thought it would take me forever to ovulate again because 1) i'd been on the pill over 10 years and 2) I was way irregular before I went on the pill. We figured we'd just have some fun for awhile and look what happened! I did ovulate almost 2 whole weeks after I normally would have on the pill so it was hard nailing down a conception and due date, but other than that I just agree with some of the other posters, anything can happen so if you're not ready to actually conceive, def use some other form of protection, but if you want to give it a shot and see what happens, you never know.
