How long were you uncomfortable after your water sono?
ET: change title since there's no longer a new question. Thanks everyone!
It's been almost 2 days since my water sono was done and I'm still really crampy and uncomfortable. I can move around and everything- but I'm just really sore. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about? I'm not in outright doubled over pain- just uncomfortable/sore. TIA!
(old) and I have to say, I'm getting really nervous. I am under so much stress b/c of what we're going through w/ my mom in the hospital (who by the way will probably be being operated on at the same time, in a hospital that I think is terrible - but we have no choice b/c that's where her dr is, who I know is good, but still....)... and this is just adding to it. I took my BP at a machine today and you seriously don't even want to know what it was.... all I can say is it's a good thing I'm already on the BCPs- but it was lower yesterday am when my dr checked it, so it's definitely all stress related. Tomorrow is the only day Dr. K can do it in PJ- so moving it isn't an option either... and my mom's not home as planned, which is causing problems b/c my grandma can't be alone and I take care of her when my mom's not! Why is nothing ever easy???!?!?! Sorry- guess I needed to vent. What should I expect for tomorrow? I Know I posted this once before but any tips/info would be VERY appreciated. On a side note, anyone going to be at LI-IVF in PJ tomorrow around 11? TIA!
UPDATE: I'm home. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, though it did hurt and def. felt uncomfortable. The 1st part (which they told me was the worst part) was very uncomfortable but not painful- but once they started adding in the water and whatever else he was doing, it def. hurt. I'm just glad it's over. He said everything's all clear and looks good Another thing to check off the list Thanks everyone!!!

Re: my water sono is tomorrow...
The water sono was really nothing!!! Especially if you had an HSG... it is virtully painless and just little "odd" feeling

Re: my water sono is tomorrow...
The water sono is a piece of cake. Don't worry about that.
As for your bp, they won't take it again until your pre-retrieval exam so you have time to relax. By then, your Mom will be home and feeling better and everything will be fine.
Remember I told you how my BP was high the other day???? Well, it was high the morning of my retrieval again but, once the retrieval was over and I was relaxed, it went down to 117/78! Stress can do a number on you. Just take one step at a time. Everything will work out.

LOL- they told me they'll be checking mine off and on the whole time to make sure the BCPs aren't raising it.... Yeah, mine went down to normal yesterday (though the higher end, which they said was b/c my mom was in surgery so it was to be expected).

don't stress over it! to me, it was like a really wet pap smear. I brought a pad to make sure my clothes would stay dry after.

Good Luck tomorrow. . .The water sono is really not bad. I was nervous but it was pretty fast. I had some cramping afterward but I am beginning to get use to cramping . I hope all goes well with your mom. you and your mom will be in my prayers.

Don't even think about it. It will be over very quickly. Just a slight pressure but does not hurt. Anticipation is the worst, thinking its going to hurt and it wont. Just remember to breathe deeply to relax yourself.

Re: my water sono is tomorrow...
I've had numerous water sonos...no biggie. It's like an IUI with water in the catheter. There will be a nurse in the room injecting water while Dr. K does an internal sono at the same time. The weirdest part is the gush of water when you sit up. They have pads there, so make sure you use one, My last one I was in and out in 20 minutes.

Re: my water sono is tomorrow...
GL, I cannot lie mine hurt. Dr. K even had to take a break BUT I had that extra tissue on my cervix that he removed with the D&C so thats why. Even then, I did not even need an advil after. Plus it was really good to know there was an issue before the ivf.

Re: my water sono is tomorrow...
My water sono did not hurt at all. My Dr said it also acts as a mock transfer to see how your embryo transfer will go. Like Gerty said it is more the gush of water than any actual pain.

Re: my water sono is tomorrow...
thanks everyone I saw my mom tonight. She seriously looked like she was on her death bed- it was so scary to see her looking like that. I cried almost the entire time I was there (as quietly as I could- she didn't even realize b/c she was coming in and out of sleep and could barely talk). After we left I broke down completely during the car ride home. We had our antibiotics and then we had dinner shortly after (we had eaten a little before hand b/c they told us not to take it on an empty stomach).... anyway after dinner I RAN into the bathroom- I seriously thought I was going to get sick.... I'm thinking it was from the antibiotics- it's the only thing that made sense. I had to lay down in the car the whole trip home... and still feel queasy.

Re: New question-How long were you uncomfortable after your water sono?
I can't really remember, mine was last year. But, I don't recall being crampy the next day. Definitely that day I was slightly. But, I think that part of my body has high tolerance for pain. After my lap/hysto surgery last year I didn't feel anything but bloated.

Re: New question-How long were you uncomfortable after your water sono?
I don't know how to say this - You might want to think about this IVF. You seem to be A: under a lot of stress B: feeling much more pain than normal
I have had many water sonos and have NEVER had any kind of pain after. There is absolutely no reason for pain after a water sono...it's no different from an IUI.
ETA: I'm really not trying to be mean about this, but it seems like you are totally stressing out right now and that's not the best situation to do IVF. I know you want to get rolling, but sometimes life has other plans.

seriously???? wow, your body is ultra sensitive. The hurtingest part for me was the speculum. Once it was out it was like nothing happened.
