How many books do you own?

A while ago someone on LIF prompted me to count my books. It turns out, we have at least 750! She had 1,000, I believe!!!

And my second question...
Where do you keep them?

In our old house, we had all of them in our "library," which was actually a 3rd bedroom. Because it was a ranch house, the "library" was on the 1st floor, which I loved--because I like to look really pompous to visitors. Now, we live in a colonial and all of our bedrooms are accounted for upstairs. Our books are currently in the attic, which is finished, but an attic nonetheless. I'd love to have them downstairs, but we have no shelving at this point.

Over a 1000.....Finally my husband bought me a kindle because he was tired of seeing piles of books in the basement, the attic, the spare bedroom.... I have started bringing them to school for the library and giving them away to family and friends.

Right now, not too many, maybe 50 out and like 40 or so I want to keep in storage. I used to keep them ALL.....and had hundreds, then I started either selling them or giving them away Plus I cannot buy new books Like I once could, cannot justify the cost when its free at the library (I love the book store still though!)

Probably around 300...but they are my and DH's faves that we don't want to give up....

Otherwise, I give them or lend them out - but I rarely buy anymore...DH and I are huge fans of the library....

I haven't counted- I'm afraid. But we have a lot- I have two ladder bookshelves in the living room that are pretty full plus about 20 books on the console table. One wide IKEA shelf and a matching narrow shelf in the family room, both full. DH and I both have a ridiculous stack on each nightstand plus a closet with shelves full and boxes in storage. My 2 year old probably has about 100 herself.

In my next house, more likely to be my "forever" house, I want a room with built-in bookshelves- I love how that looks.

Not much. We had a flood in our basement last year and it ruined boxes of books. We had to throw away hundreds of books. Since then, we've started going to the library. Saves on storage and money.

I am not even going to attempt with the books. Too many, even though I have moved fairly often and given a lot away when I moved. Now, I buy lots of them for my son. It's a problem.

I'll have to try to count tonight. So far, we have three tall bookcases filled with them, and several books are shoved in any way they fit. We try to shed books (except our favorites) regularly.

We have them all over the house, so I haven't counted them. When I designed our new addition to the house, I put in a library. I'm going to build custom shelves in there very soon, so hopefully we can fit them all in the one room. Then, we have a chance of counting them.

Every time I build a new bookcase, DW fills it up! Hopefully by building a small room of bookshelves, it will hold her for a while.

Probably about 500 in our computer room that we call the "office".

DS must have 100 in his little bookcase in his room, but many are board books

On my to do list for the summer is to organize and weed out. I hate to get rid of books, but there are SO many and the office room is really cluttered.

A few summers ago I got rid of a ton by selling them on Amazon!
