If you were or have planned a trip to DW and plan on visiting some of the local smaller attractions as well, how long would you book your hotel stay Chat Icon ?

Is it like a 3 day trip and you've had enough or can you make a week out of it without being bored ?

Also, feel free to add what else you will be going to when you go to DW Chat Icon

Re: How many days can you spend in the Dutch Wonderland "area" ?

We booked a home in Lancaster for a full week in June w/my in-laws. It's about 30 min. from DW. The plan is to do DW for 1 or 2 days in addition to...

- The Strasberg Railroad & Museum
- The Amish House & Farm
- Cherry Crest Farms
- The Hands-On-House Children's Museum
- Kitchen Kettle Village
- Downtown Lancaster

We'll also see what else there is to do once we're there. IMO even if we do nothing on one of the days, at least we're away & off from work Chat Icon

Assuming you're going with your child(ren), here are something things you can do below, each of these activities may take a full day so yeah, a week would not be too much:

- Sesame Place

- Strasburg Railroad - Day Out with Thomas happens a few times a year here, you can also visit the RR museum

- DW

- Hersey Park

- Lancaster downtown visit

- Amish visit

I'm staying for 2 nights and am doing DW, DOWT at Strasburg, RR museum and maybe the Lancaster downtown visit.

Thank you to both of you ! Incredibly helpful links ! It seems like we can definately extend it longer than I originally thought Chat Icon

ETA- I'm guessing the hotels have brochures and stuff for things to do in the area like the places listed above ???

We are going as well for 4 nights/5days. We plan to do Dutch Wonderland, Hershey and Crest Farm as well, plus hang out by the hotel pool etc.
Our daughter will be 2.

I just remembered - I went to Sturgis Pretzel Bakery as a kid w/the Girl Scouts & we got to make our own pretzels at the end of the tour. DS is too young for that, but if you have older kiddies they might enjoy it Chat Icon
