How many IUI's or IVF's have you done so far?

I am trying to decide which way I may go. Our insurance pays nothing, so I need the "most bang for the buck"..

I did one IVF. IUI was not recommended for us because we have severe MF. If I were you I would save the $$$ and go straight for IVF. It has a much higher success rate than IUI and if you are going to be paying for meds anyway might as well pay for them to do IVF. Good Luck!!!

I wish you the best and agree you should go for the IVF. I get so aggravated hearing that insurance does not cover this - it's ridiculous, this is so common nowadays and we pay through the roof in insurance!!

I guess it depends on your issues. I did 4 IUIs (pregnant on two of them) and 2 IVFs (pregnant with one of them).

I did 4 IUI's and never go pg.. We are moving to IVF now and I wish I just had gone straight to IVF in the first place (when I hear the odds on both, IVF is the way to go).

I have done medicated timed intercourse and one IUI. We are planning two more injectible/IUI cycles before moving on to IVF. But my insurance covers unlimited IUIs, no IVF.

It really depends on what the issues are - but IVF has a much higher success rate - if I had to pay - I think I would go straight for IVF - We did one IUI and one IVF - pregnant from the IVF

I'm on my 5th and final IUI cycle, we will be moving to IVF next.

just finished my 7th and last iui before moving on to ivf.
the 1st iui was unmedicated
the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with clomid
the 5th, sth, & 7th with injectibles.
Insurance pays for it all. If this one doesn't work we are moving on to IVF starting the next cycle.

We did 3 unmedicated IUI's and conceived on the 3rd, but it was ectopic. Then we did 2 more unmedicated IUI's and 4 medicated IUI's with no success. We did one IVF and conceived.

The only reason we did so many IUI's was because my insurance covered them. During that time we were saving money to do IVF. Luckily my DH started a new job and his insurance covered our IVF.

If we had to pay out of pocket, we would have went straight to IVF (we had MF issues).

I honestly cant remember how many IUIs. I think at least 4 cycles. 3 fresh IVF cycles, one FET with chemical PG

With my son- I was PG on my 3rd round Clomid/IUI....This time around I have done 3 clomid/IUI and 1 IUI unmedicated (currently in 2ww)...We have 1 more shot at IUI and then will be moving onto IVF- It really does depend on your peticular issues- For me, if money wasnt an object or if it was covered by insurance then I would go straight to IVF- good luck!

I had my first RE appointment on 10/19. I'm on my second cycle of IUI. The first one was a single IUI with clomid. This one was a back to back IUI with injectibles. I am currently in the 2WW. God forbid this doesn't work... I think we will take a cycle off as the next step would be IVF - which we can't start until the end of January due to scheduling.

I moved pretty quickly as I am a bit older and I have a blocked tube. My insurance covers 3 IUI's - which I have just used up - but doesn't cover IVF.

IVF is usually a great option because of it's success rates. Depending on your issue, I would weigh the intrusiveness with the success factors. I think if I had really known had little chance I had with IUI I would have started IVF in November or so. But I think I was trying to digest so much info.

When I was 39 I did eight IUI cycles - then went for IVF and found out I had blocked tubes.
Two fresh IVF cycles and 7 FET's - the last one being successful.

I did 5 iui's, two of them on injectables. The last one did the trick.

ETA: and none of them paid by insurance. I just finished paying up the RE last month.

We did 13 iui's and one IVF before getting pg.

I did 6 IUI's...3 with Letrozole and 3 with injections...all were unsuccessful.
We went to IVF, got PG, but then miscarries, and then did a 1 FET and was successful

i did 2 IUIs both worked. one i had a MC the other got me pg with twins. im 12 weeks now.
