With regards to IUI and IVF
How much $$$ did you spend out of pocket. You don't have to identify yourself.
We haven't spoken to an RE yet, but we are not waiting. I just want to be prepared in my head for what's to come.

Re: With regards to IUI and IVF
Our total out of pocket to date is just over $6,000.
That's for all meds and co-pays. We did 3 IUIs and one IVF.
Sadly, I think I'm one of the lucky ones as far as insurance coverage is concerned.

Re: With regards to IUI and IVF
Wow...what kind of insurance do you guys who had to pay close to nothing have??
I found out that my insurance will pay for the "treatment" of fertility issues (testing), but nothing else. no iui's, no ivf..
At this point, with having the "best of the worst" case senarios for infertility issues (male factor), I'm praying for a miracle.
Can you pray with me??

Re: With regards to IUI and IVF
$30.00 copay- (I go every week since Nov. 05.
$500.00 per IUI-(I've had ten of them)
$100.00 for HSG.
$50.00 copay for the hospital when I had the HSG.
$18.00 per HCG shot ( I've had 4 of them)
To have the end result be a baby...Priceless.

Re: With regards to IUI and IVF
Our IUIS were covered , but we had co-pays and a LOT...Meds, and a million visits. It cost us in Co-pays for all our IUIS about $3ooo.
We got the NYS Grant for our IVF...we have to pay 35% of the total. It comes to just over $7000.

Re: With regards to IUI and IVF
I was dreading this but I just did a rough calculation. With ICSI and meds, the IVF cost a bit more than $15,000. This does not include acupuncture visits. My insurance pays none of this.
Most (if not all) of the testing was paid by insurance, though.

Re: With regards to IUI and IVF
My insurance pays for our blood, sono and IUI's. But we have a $20 copay for each. We have done 3 IUI's so far. I would say that so far we have paid at least $500 out of pocket.
I am very grateful that I have insurance coverage for the IUI's.
We have no IVF coverage, so hopefully IUI will work for us.

When you go to your RE, explain your insurance. I believe that IUI's are considered treatment for fertility issues are what IUI's are considered. You could also call your insurance company and have them explain everything. I think my insurance was the same and it covered unlimited IUI's (with copays) but no IVF.
