How many pounds of seafood to buy?

For Christmas eve we are having about 15 people. We are having salmon, a shrimp dish and we'll be having several other dishes including a pasta dish w/meat.

How many pounds of salmon and shrimp do you think I should buy?

hmmmmm.....

figure 6 ounces of uncooked fish per person for a full serving...

for shrimp- I would get maybe 2 or 3 pounds depending on how you are preparing and what else is in the dish.

I think 5-6 ounces of salmon (per person) and like 2-3 pounds of shrimp (total). People like shrimp more. I could easily finish off a 1/2 pound of shrimp on my own. When DH and I have a shrimp meal , we eat a pound between us.

What kind of dish are you serving the shrimp with?

4-6 oz of salmon per person
4-6 X-Large Shrimp per person (X-Lg shrimp come 20-22 pieces per pound)

Thanks everyone! This definitely helps! The shrimp dish is actually a Cuban dish kind of like shrimp creole - it is in a red sauce w/ red bell peppers and it yummy! I am going to serve that with linguine (although it is traditionally served over rice)
