How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
same rules as the other poll.
setting the table for take aways does not count neither does frozen meals/entrees.
sandwiches, however DO count, if you prepare them from the ground up (ie buying cold cuts, making the tuna/chicken salad)

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
I am a SAHM so I make 3 meals a day, we very rarely takeout/eat out anymore (every 1-1/2 to 2 weeks maybe).
If we do go out, I put my order in with my dad and he whips up something amazing.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
I make breakfast at home every morning (oatmeal, eggs, whatever..)
I prepare my lunch every day for work (always bring lunch). On the weekends we usually make grilled cheese with tomato, soup, or something simple like that.
I cook dinner 6 nights/week.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
as a general rule, I cook every night except Friday.
I make bkfst for dh and I every day (I am lucky he is partial to warm croissants spread with nutella)
I usually prepare his lunch out of leftovers. I don't bring my lunch. I hate microwaved meat
on the weekends, I make all three meals unless we are out and about. I LOOOVVVEEE making breakfast.
I am a bit out of sorts right now...so temporarily this is not the case...but I too also think I am a pretty good cook (good enough for my family/friends to enjoy) and I love doing it.
the only thing I hate is the cleanup, which falls on me too

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
i would say i cook 6 nights a week. some weeks it could be 5 nights a week and some weeks it could be 7 nights a week- but never less than 5 nights... i buy lunch at work or take leftovers from the night before.. now that ive been on maternity leave i've been making meals 2-3 xs a day more or less.
i make everything from the "ground up" like you mentioned. i pretty much avoid using anything preprepared, things like like jar sauce, or"just add water/meat" kind of things etc.. it takes more time but i am taking pride in the fact that i use fresh ingredients..

this is so funny!!!!
I frigging LOVE french toast.
I have an ol' standby recipe that everyone loves...but I'd love another to switch it up.
my recipe
1 loaf day old brioche (from the french bakery) milk eggs CINNAMON good vanilla extract
mix up above, dip in bread...then dip into
brown sugar pressed on to a flat surfact
so I basically VERY lightly bread the french toast in brown sugar
throw it on the grill. top with a bit of confectioners sugar (or the syrup of your choice) serve with sliced strawberries.
the end.
it's divine
oh, I get my Nutella imported when I can. we LOVE the stuff in our house.

Coast Toast Recipe
1 loaf soft French bread (sliced) 1 qt. whipping cream 10 eggs ¾ cup orange juice ½ cup sugar a pinch of salt 2 tbs. vanilla 2 tbs. orange flavoring
Combine liquid ingredients. Pour over bread slices. Cover and refrigerate at least one hour.
Remove bread and discard liquid. Spread butter on flat grill.
Cook bread until golden brown, then bake at 450° for 5 -7 minutes or until bread is puffed up like a soufflé. Dust with powdered sugar.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
I cook dinner 5 out of the 7 nights as I don't cook on Friday or Saturday...I do prepare our lunch everyday though to take to work, either a sandwhich or leftovers. Breakfast I also prepare for work, sometimes eggs, or toasted bagel.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
We get breakfast on Saturday mornings, I order lunch at work Fridays only and we get take-out Friday night. Otherwise, all home-cooked. Does cereal count? Also my DC are self-sufficient enough to make their lunches and breakfasts. So I guess I don't prepare theirs, technically.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
I cook about 2-3 times a week. I make a lot of food when I cook so there is always at least a day or 2 of leftovers for DH. We go out at least once a week and DH will have dinner with his family at least once a week when I am working late.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
Dinner maybe 4-5 times a week. Usually do takeout one night and then another night we'll eat leftovers.
Breakfast/Lunch usually on the the weekends. During the week, breakfast is usually quick (Milk, banana, & cereal bar) for kids bc they eat a full breakfast at daycare. For us, we usually just have oatmeal, bagel or cereal at work. For lunch, we usually just take leftovers from the night before and the kids eat at daycare.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
DH and i cook dinner about 5-6 times a week.... we use the leftovers from dinner to bring for lunch the next day, so i wouldnt count that as extra cooking.
on Saturdays if i am not working we make french toast, otherwise i have instant oatmeal in the AM
on sundays we usually also make french toast for breakfast and cook dinner later that night

Same for us, although DH only brings lunch 2-3x per week. I bring every day.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
make breakfast everyday.
but I usually make a batch of waffles or pancakes one morning, then reheat the rest of week.
DH eats eggs and rice almost daily.
Lunch is made everyday...but I usually make soup twice a week...then I make sandwich or salad to go with it.
Dinner is made maybe 3-4 times a week. We always have leftovers.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
I cook dinner about 5-6 times a week.
I make lunch for my DD every day and if I am not having leftovers from the night before I will make myself lunch also.
I do not make breakfast because I hate eggs so if I am making breakfast, it is cereal, oatmeal, yogurt or toast

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
well, we eat 2 meals a day.... but I don't COOK twice a day, KWIM? we live in leftover city
We seldom eat out, however... so the # of home-prepared meals is 13 (barring fri night dinner), but the # of times we prepare a meal (not including packing up leftovers) is about 7.......

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
it's just the two of us - no kids, just one dog lol.
i make DH his lunch.
i make myself a lunch most of the time.
i make DH breakfast on his days off - which, right now, is only Sunday's. when he is off the whole weekend i'll do it both days.
dinner i make 4-5 times a week -- otherwise, we eat at my parents or with IL's. and two/three times a month we'll go out.
so, like 20ish meals a week.

Re: How many times a week do you cook/prepare a meal?
I am a SAHM and I actually really enjoy cooking for my family- I make dinner every nite , a lot of nights i will also have extended family here as well-esp on Sundays.
(Dinner to me consists of 1st dish pasta/soup, then 2nd dish meat/fish then a veg&starch on side. (none of that heat & serve processed stuff for me! )
a hot breakfast is cooked for my 2 lil ones every morning... I make lunch most days of the week from left-overs to send with my husband to work- On weekends either my husband will make bkfst or we will go out- and a lot of times we will go to dinner on Sat nites.
So about 15-21 meals a week!
