How many to wash: receiving blankets, towels, etc?

I am doing baby laundry today and washed most of the 0-3 months stuff and the sheets, mattress pad, etc. I am not going to wash the 3-6 and higher yet...But how many receiving blankets, towels, washcloths, robes, bibs, do I really need to wash? I feel like I have 10 receiving blankets! Please provide me with some guidance, esp those BTDT moms. TIA!!

P.S. Do I line the drawers with something?!

I washed all the towels, burp clothes, and blankets as well as 0-3 month clothing. I figure if I am keeping it I might as well do it all at once. (OK I am lying my mom and MIL did all the laundry). Anyway, I put it away and didn't use drawer liners.

We have to wash burp clothes before we use them? Don't they just get dirty right away anyway?

im not a BTDT mom but I would think youd want to wash all the blankets.. I have a feeling they prob get dirty fast and will need washing. It is better to have them washed then to be going crazy to do laundry constantly

I've only washed the onsies, socks and caps. I figured with the burp clothes, and blankets and bibs I wouldn't do that as they're going to get dirty anyways.

Same! I figured I'd use the blankets, towels, burp cloths, etc so why not. AND my mom did all the laundry too! I'm going to miss being preggo and catered to! LOL I didn't line the drawers, but did wipe them all down first.

wash as many bibs as you can! most other things, like towels, you can follow the rule of 3's: one being used, one in the wash, and one ready to go. You probably don't need more than 3 towels. IMO, you don't need many more receiving blankets, depending on how you like to swaddle and if your DC likes swaddling. I found using the miracle blanket was best. I probably only needed about 4 or so receiving blankets. It's good to have a few b/c you'll take one with you to the doctor every time, you might put one over the car seat in cool weather, you can put one down on the floor or couch at someone's house, etc. You might not want to wash too many neutral ones though b/c people will get you gender specific stuff when DC gets here.

Thanks Julianne! I would hate to not use anything, but there's always grandma and papa's house :)
