Dumb question about receiving blankets

Well I always see babies in those generic hospital blankets (the white, blue and orange ones). Do you take those home or do you buy a receiving blanket? I see them in packs of 2 and 4 also... what are they for?

Re: Dumb question about receiving blankets

my hospital let me take some home. it's a nice keepsake, i think. anyway, buy as many swaddling blankets (i believe they're the same as recieving blankets). your baby is balled up in your tummy for some many months that being in the outside world is totally new. with these blankets tightly wrapped around your baby helps soothe him to sleep. and for longer hours for that matter. and that is heavenly!

Re: Dumb question about receiving blankets

I took Logan's home, but for sentimental reasons.

I've been home with him for 5 days and I've used 5 blankets.

He likes to be swaddled and doesn't like the swaddle me, so I'm all about having LOTS of receiving blankets.
