I honestly have no idea. It's been about 17 years since I last took a typing test (sometime in high school). But I type every day at work, so I guess it's good enough.
And yes, I'm very aware of how old that makes me sound.

I always thought 40-50 and that test gave me a 47
But I only use 6-8 fingers to type, so I guess that's not too bad! I was never trained, just learned out of necessity typing so many papers.

Accurately when copying from another text, about 70. I think I type faster when I doing it stream-of-consciousness...

from that test- 69wpm- however, I know I type faster when writing an e-mail/letter from my own thoughts or from dictation.

Apparently I would make a horrible typist - I tested at 45WMP ....now I know why it takes me so long to send an email or to type one of these posts!

my typing hit the toilet when my work-relating typing became "hacked" with abbreviations.

I know what you mean, my work related 'typing" consists of short 1 - 3 letter commands, I generally have one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse, that doesn't work well for actaul typing

this is a good test:
Typing Test
i avg. about 89-95 wpm
Using this test, I avg 69-74 wpm.
I was surprised it was that high, esp. with my nails getting in the way!

As per that test 57 wpm.....
I can type faster on the desktop than the laptop for some reason....But that's about right. I was always around 60 wpm.

Exactly the same for me. I can type one of these posts in no time flat.
According to the test, I can do 83 wpm. I blew DH away--he only got 38wpm! And he sits at a computer all day!
