Every family is different. You have to do what's best for you. Some people would love their kids closer but can't afford 2 in day care so they have no choice to wait. Others just don't want them too close in age for various reasons. I had mine very close in age for a few reasons. One reason is b/c I had a DD from a previous relationship. She was an only child for a long time and finally at 7 yrs old her sister was born. My next 2 children came back to back. I had 3 in 3 years. It's been amazing. Lots of work and stress but it's soooo worth it. Seeing them interact together everyday melts me. They are best friends- frick and frack.

You have to do what works for your family. There are pros and cons no matter what the age gap is. It has to be right for you.

My girls are 14 months apart. They are now 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old. They are the best of friends. They do fight but they love each other! They can't go to sleep until they say goodnight to each other. When they are playing they both have to know where the other is. They are really close. I love this age gap

DS is 5 1/2 now and it will be another couple of years before I have another child, so there will be YEARS between them - even though DS has been asking for a little brother or sister

My son will be 9 months old on the 22nd. and we plan on starting to try for #2 this fall. we want them to be 2 years apart.

3 years and 9 months apart. It works out great for us.
