Honestly, we don't have the extra $ to spend. I'm going to rent some DVD's. Chances are I'm having a c-section anyway.

Re: how much are you paying for childbirth classes?

we're going to rent DVDs and hope for the best! we're relocating right around the time when it would be best to take the classes, so unless we find something out in IL during my 8th-9th month, we'll be laughing and learning it on DVD! Chat Icon Chat Icon

we bought the laugh and learn dvd's. So far, I must say I don't regret spending the $ and buying them, rather than renting. we've watched them several times already!

Re: how much are you paying for childbirth classes?

$0...I rented the Laugh & Learn about Childbirth DVD from my library & I plan to rent to Breastfeeding one soon. We don't have the extra money or time to take classes.

Jesus H. Christ!! That is way too much money to pay for something where your body really knows what it is doing anyway!

I didn't take a class and was fine, I meant to watch a DVD, but I never got around to that either.

Re: how much are you paying for childbirth classes?

I paid 125$ just for the birthing class and an additional 100$ for the BF class...so I guess we're paying the same.

It's money well spent IMO, if you can do it - but obviously not mandatory as there are other options out there like renting or buying videos...Personally, we wanted something interactive with an instructor so we could ask questions if we wanted to....so we paid and did the classes and I'm happy we did.

Not worth the money in my opinion!!! Just another way to get your cash...the nurses will tell you what to do...people have been giving birth forever, without these classes. I will be fine.

Re: how much are you paying for childbirth classes?

We paid $125 and had a private lesson in our home for our first pregnancy. Looking back----I would have done just fine without the class.

I recommend you consider just watching the DVD's as PPs have suggested.

Re: how much are you paying for childbirth classes?

The breastfeeding class is $20 and the lamaze/bradley class is $75. Insurance is also reimbursing us $30 for the lamaze.

This is also how I feel. Women have been giving bith for hundreds of years without classes. Your body knows what to do and you have plenty of medical staff to help.

Re: how much are you paying for childbirth classes?

I am taking a hypno birthing class which I think is like $75........ I was thinking of taking a class on the bradley method but I read through all of the curriculum and there was no new information for me that I didn't already know from all of my research so I think I will skip it..........

I may get a few DVDs for DH but at this point the classes would be more for him than me since I know

I borrowed the Laugh and Learn about Childbirth DVD. I figure I will try that before going out to spend more money.
