Re: How much do you pay your nanny??? POLL
I was a nanny and depending on the family and my experience level I made between $9 and $12 and hour.
ETA: I watch twins at my house 3 days a week and I charge them $200 a week. HTH!

I voted $12.hr+ but keep in mind I have two children so I probably pay a bit more. I think I paid my last nanny when we only had DD around $10 or $11/hr.

Re: How much do you pay your nanny??? POLL
We don't pay our nanny by the hour, we pay her by the week. Some weeks are longer than other weeks so it is hard to say what a per hour charge is. If she is working "overtime" (a few hours past what she typically works), we will pay her $10 per hour. On an hour by hour basis though, she makes less than that.

Re: How much do you pay your nanny??? POLL
I watch a little boy in my house for 50.00 a day. That is 7:30-3:30. If a meeting runs over, she will throw an extra 10.00 for the day.
She also packs his breakfast and lunch.
I don't get paid when she doesn't work. She offered, but I declined.
I figured she would be less likely to stay at home with him on sick days if she felt she was spending 50.00 on nothing.
So I would rather her keep her 50.00 and sick baby at home.

Re: How much do you pay your nanny??? POLL
it depends on a family , the experience of the nanny , what you need, I used to be a nanny and made $650- $700 a week (one child), now I babysit once in a while and make $15(one child)-$20(2children) per hour.

yes NYC and LI , I charge this much b/c I have a lot of experience working with kids all ages and kids with special needs( I didn't always make this much, I started at $250 a week in 98, when I was 18, lol). plus I always got perfect recomendations and references from families I have worked for .

you can go on sittercity.com or care.com or you can contact the agency and they'll find someone for you, if you find someone through the agency you have to pay the fee, I would say 2-3 weeks salary, but if you find someone through the website it's free. good luck

this is consistent with what i have committed to pay in nyc for a woman with 20+ yrs experience.

this is consistent with what i have committed to pay in nyc for a woman with 20+ yrs experience. its very normal for families to pay 550-700 or more in NYC for a nanny who has 3 or more years of experience working (with the same family, the key is having the longtime experience in NYC) . a friend of mine just got a job in the city ,$800 a week, 6 days a week from 8am-6pm, my last job was just 5 hours a day 5 days a week downtown Manhattan (with 9 YEAR OLD)and I got $700 a week, you can also always find a nanny for 400-500 a week ,you know, it depends on a family and what they need.
