How much do you think I should charge freelance photographer?
I know nothing about these kinds of things. We're are having a friend of a friend, who has recently started doing freelance work, take pics at an event we're hosting.
He's a very nice man and asked us to name our price. I have no clue what to "name"!!! Our event is about 3-4 hours and he will be giving us "the post-produced shots on Photoshop CS4 and a CD with all the full resolution pics"... I don't even know what that means! I guess that means that we would order and pay for our prints on our own? Well, that I'll ask him, but I really need some idea of what to charge him!
TIA! Tara

Yes that means you'd print the photos on your own (which is good because I know some places charge like @$20 for a 4x6.)
I don't know what they'd charge but $350-$500 is the figure I'd first throw out. Wedding photographers get thousands.
I would go to craigslist & search for event photography.

Re: How much do you think I should charge freelance photographer?
I just had my stepsons senior pictures taken (on location - she took him to 3 spots) by a professional wedding and pet photographer. Then session was 2 hours long and we were able to choose one 8x10, 2 5x7 and some wallets (she printed). The we received 7 other high res. pics via email that he was able to put on his my space page but, I was able to reprint at Snapfish (hehe) and her fee was $225.00. If we wanted the hi res disc with every shot, it was $175.00. SO, I think $400 is a fair amount.

400-500 sounds fair.
have you seen his work? I mean if he is just learning i wouldn't want to pay all that much.
