How much does your 1 month old eat?
And how often do they eat? My son is almost 1 month old and is eating 5 oz, every 3 hours. I thought once I upped him to 5 oz that he would eat less often, but that doesnt seem to be happening.

DS is 3 weeks right now and at 4oz...I see 5oz coming very quickly. I agree - when we upped to 4oz I expected the feedings to slow down but it has been the same number - just more oz for him.

DS is 6 wks old--he too is eating an average of 5ozs every 3 to 3 1/2 hrs, except at night. He was eating 4ozs every 4 hrs, but when we bumped him up to 5, he no longer makes it 4 hrs.

I was just going to post the same question. I am at 5 oz every 3 hours. I cal almost set my watch to the time. I really thought that 5oz would make him go a little longer between but no such luck. I was starting to worry that this was too much too soon but I am glad to hear I am not alone.
We go to the pediatrician tomorrow so I plan on asking there too...
ETA: He is 6 weeks old today

DD eats 5oz every 3 hours during the day (sometimes 2 1/2) She will be 6 weeks tomorrow. We had the same confusion after going from 4 to 5 oz she eats more often.

I have to say I am so happy I am not the only one. Hmmm--maybe we should all try 6 oz, and maybe the reverse will happen!!!
I would love to know what your ped says about it.

Well...my son is 3 weeks today. He just now can handle 3 oz. at a time. When he started needing to eat 2 oz. every 2 hours, we tried 3 oz. but he would throw it up. So we opted for 2.5. Back to every 3 hours. Yesterday, he seemed to no longer be satisfied for 3 hours...so today I added the next .5 oz. He's back "on schedule" for 3 hours.
At his 2 week check up, I asked the dr. for her opinion on what we did (the 2.5 oz. since he would vomit with 3)...she said .5 oz. increments were fine and his stomach isn't large enough for 3. She said to just wait it out and then try offering the next .5 oz. when he started eating more often again. They should still be eating every 3-4 hours...so even at a month and 5 oz., I don't think it should satisfy them longer...their stomachs have grown to support the amount, they haven't slowed how quickly they digest and need replenishment.
That's my take based on what the dr. told me.
