How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
DD is just a little over 3 months and is eating a full 8oz about every 4-6 hours during the day and she will go anywhere from 6-9 hours at night.
Tonight after her bottle she was fine and about and hour and a half later she started to SCREAM like someone was ripping her limbs off. It was terrible!! It's not like her at all. I did everything I could to try and calm her.
Well I decided to make a bottle with only 4oz and she ended up calming down almost immediately and she ate about 1oz-1 1/2oz.
I'm wondering if I should bump up her 8oz to about 10oz. Just wondering what other 3-4 months old out there are eating.

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
My DS is 8.5 months old and the most he has EVER eaten is 8oz and that is now. At three months old he wa seating about 4-5oz at a time.
I'd call your ped because he may suggest giving her a little cereal because it sounds like she isn't satisfied with just formula. How many oz does she eat a day? I think they aren't supposed to exceed 32 or 36oz a day.
Oh, did you try a pacifer? May s ucking is soothing to her?

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
My DD never ate more than an 8 ozs bottle at a time. I am not sure if I would go past 8 ozs. IMO that seems like too much at once, I could be wrong though. Sorry I am not much help.

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
My daughter is 7 months and only eats 6-7 ounces at each feeding. At 3 months she was eating 4, I think. I think you should call your doctor and ask for suggestions, because 10 ounces sounds like a lot....giving her cereal at some feedings might help to fill her stomach a little more.
Good luck!!

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
Just had my 4 month appointment with DS. We give him 7 or 7.5 ounce bottles when he is not BFing.
The doctor said to not go much more than that. She seemed to think that 7-8 ounces was enough. I would talk to your pediatrician. Maybe DD needs to eat more frequently, with smaller bottles? If she's going 6 hours between feedings maybe more feedings would help?

10 oz is a lot. Call your dr they may suggest cereal. Our dr only wants dc to have around 32 oz of formula a day.

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
We started DS on cereal at 3 months b/c he simply wasnt satisfied with just formula. He was getting 4 8oz bottles a day (down from 5 when he started sleeping through the night) and simply needed something more. It worked a great deal.
At just under 5 months Caden eats...
4 8oz bottles (each contains 2 TABLESPOONS of Rice Cereal for his reflux)
and
2 helpings of solids..cereal, fruit, and/or vegetables

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
DS will be 3 months this week and eats 7oz every 4 hours. He sleeps 12hrs at night so that means he's getting 4 bottles a day.

My son is 3.5mos old and eats 7ozs every 3 hours. His last bottle is usually between 8:00-8:30 and he will sleep through the night and not have another bottle till 8:00am.
He gets 1 teaspoon of Oatmeal Cereal in every bottle for his spit up

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
my son will be 3 mo's next week,he is on 5 oz bottles with cerel in them because of reflux,he takes 5 bottles a day.what does your baby weigh? i have never heard of giving 10 oz,only 8oz.i have 5 kids..i would talk to the doctor, sounds like the baby needs solids, one of mine would want one after another 8oz bottle and thats what i had to do.They say dont add solids before 4-6 months, but each baby is different,my girls were 9 lbs at birth and milk along didn't cut it,so with the girls i had to add solids at 2-3 months,my son was 7 lbs 7oz,he is turning 3 mos, with him i am only adding cerel because of reflux.each baby is different.this is my personal situation, you should do whats best for yourself.

Re: How Much Formula for 3 Month Old?
DD gets 6.5 oz every 4 hours and skips a feeding during the night. We just upped it to 6.5 oz from 6 oz last week. She's 11 weeks old.
