How much is furniture gonna cost?

We are thinking of starting a savings just for the babys room. Due to the fact that we have to gut the room.

It looks like a 70's porno room right now. Its got rust carpet, birds wallpaper from floor to ceiling and popcorn yellow (from not being painted) ceiling.

So how much does furniture run? How much do rocking chairs run? We were thinking we would probably just get it from BRU.

Our set was about $1100 - we just got a crib and a short dresser.

It can run anywhere from $300 (Ikea) to thousands (Stanley).

You should pick up a copy of Baby Bargains - that really helped us make our decision.

The pieces in the set we picked out range from $400 - $550each

Rocker/Glider Chair is $500

Depends on what you want in the room.

I got my "lifetime" pieces from BBB - Bonavita b/c that brand was recommended by Baby Bargains. We spent under $1000 for a convertible crib and 5-drawer dresser.
Then I got my "baby" pieces - glider ($250) and changing table ($100) from Target. You can't even tell it's not a set - it's all in cherry color.

ETS: You might want to wait for BBB coupons to come out if you're getting furniture there - saves a lot of $$. 20% off!

We bought a set from Behr's. Total including tax and delivery was almost $2400.

We got a crib, short dresser with changing table top, tall dresser, toy chest, and rails for converting the crib to the bed.

A friend is giving us their glider. And if they didn't we probably wouldn't have one at all. Just too much $$.

ottoman- $16 Bed Bath and Beyond
baskets, etc- $40 Ikea, Michaels


I am ideologically opposed to buying things labeled for "baby". I thinkk you automatically pay 40% more.

Home Depot rents a wallpaper steamer- $45 per day.
Paint is approx $25 per gallon.

we're not budgeting a ton of money towards the crib and changing table... (no room for other pieces). Frankly, we're going to get ours from either target or walmart.

Over there, a decent quality crib will cost about $300, and a changing table will be another $275 or so.

we bought a Munire convertible crib and dresser for, I think about $1500.

The crib converts to a full size heardboard/backboard and does not look like baby furniture at all. We figured it would be lifetime furniture rather than just nursery furniture.

Glider & Ottomon cost us $1000.

So total was about $2500

the crib i want is $400. the only problem will be getting furniture to match b/c it's an off-white color, so i am thinking about either changing the crib (looking in target or ikea) or getting kight-colored wood furniture from target. DH and i have gotten furniture from target before and i love their stuff.

i already know my mom is buying our crib, so we will probably budget about $400-600 for the rest of the nursery.

Here's our furniture breakdown:

$200 on a Bonavita lifestyle crib
*A "special value" crib from BBB being discontinued combined with a 20% off coupon.

$100 on a foam mattress
*After a 20% off BBB coupon.

$700 on a Dutailier glider/nursing ottoman from Behr's.
*Our splurge purchase! DH fell in love with a particular glider.

Grand total: $1000.

Everything else in the nursery is my old college furniture: IKEA dresser (top to be used as a changing table) and IKEA nightstand. We also left my old twin bed in the room because we weren't sure what else to do with it.

Hutch $399.99
Armoire $599.99

We also used the 15% off coupon and received an additional $207 off because they ordered the wrong color.

I think in total we spent around $1550

It can be a wide range. Here is what we spent:
-$400 crib (gift) BRU
-$150 dresser to be used as a changer IKEA
-$500 upholstered glider BEST CHAIR
We could definitely use the glider in the living room and the dresser in a different bedroom in the future.

I spent $2200. I got the Bonavita convertible crib, the dresser, the hutch, the chest of drawers, and the mattress. All are from BBB.

I didn't want a fancy crib since she'll get real furniture when she gets a little older.

We bought a dresser from IKEA ($150) and use it as the changing table as well.

Bought a bookcase from IKEA ($50)
Bought the crib from BBB (@300 I think)
Got an upholstered rocker from some store - forgot the name - not a baby store ($150)

Our nursery is in an apt and space is a major issue. I also didnt want to spend a lot of money on baby furniture.

Our convertible crib and dresser/changer were from BBB and was less than $800 with the 20% off coupon.

My glider was from BRU and was about $500.

We also bought a bookcase from Crate & Barrel that was $300.

So, in total about $1600.
