How Much Money Did You Have left after closing?

I think it depend when you closed. I would have had alot more money today if i was closing verses what i had in 2006.

We wound up buying a less expensive house, but one where we knew we'd be doing a lot of work (we are gutting completely the 2 bathrooms). So we wound up leaving more $$$ in the bank since we knew we'd need it for renovations soon after buying. I was also nervous about DH's job--they are doing mass layoffs--so we left 6 mos. of living expenses in the bank in addition to our renovation fund.

we had a years worth of expenses

we pretty much did not touch any money to get into our house.

it was a new construction, so the builder paid almost all of the closing costs.

we did not do an inspection

we did not put any money down.

I think it cost us 1800 all together...since we bought a point.

we made a promise to ourselves not to touch money to furnish or decorate, so its going to take a long time to get things together inside.
