How much to offer for someone driving son to school
Hi I would appreciate any input from you ladies. I just got offered a job working 8-1:00pm so I would need someone to take my son to kindegarten each morning. I asked my neighbor if she would be interested and she is. But, how much do I offer to pay her a week. I would drop him off around 7:45 am and she would take him and her son to school at 8:25. Is $30. insulting or should I pay at least $50 a week ? I figured she is going to school anyway but would like her to at least have money for gas.
What do you guys suggest ? Thanks in advance for any ideas !

hmmm - she is going that way anyway right?
Its a favor - I would give her a gift at xmas, and get her back if she needed baby sitting or maybe you pick them up from something regularly.
I should say that my radar may be off on this - I'm tired of tipping everyone. I'm tipped out!

Re: How much to offer for someone driving son to school
I think $30 sounds fair. I don't think it's so much just "a favor" as PP mentioned bc it's 40 minutes of babysitting too- not like ds is just going nextdoor at 8:20 to jump in the car at 8:25 and go. As a frame of reference/ why I think $50 may be more than necessary- we pay $50 to our dog walker (an adult with a business- insured and everything- not just some kid) and she walks our dog m-f for 30 mins. To me that is a lot more work than what you described.

I feel like $40-$50 may be fair if you can afford it. $30 seems like not quite enough....

I agree with the higher price range. I feel like that is a big responsibility for someone on a daily basis. It would definitely add to someones daily routine and the money would probabally make the person feel much more appreciated and like it is worth their time and effort.

Re: How much to offer for someone driving son to school
Thanks everyone !
I was between 30 and offering to bring her sons home everyday but I know she is at the school all the time bc she's involved in a lot of things so she probably wouldn't need me to-
I agree that 50 is probably what I will offer -
Thanks again !!

I would probably go middle of the road and offer $40. I feel like that is more than fair.
